If you are diagnosed with heart failure, it signals that your heart is not functioning correctly. While you may be aware of the signs and symptoms associated with heart failure, some of these symptoms may be worsened by iron deficiency.1 Iron deficiency can affect your blood’s ability to transport oxygen around the body and your cell’s ability to use the oxygen to produce energy. Therefore, iron deficiency can cause many non-specific symptoms such as physical fatigue, dizziness and shortness of breath.
Why Are You At Risk?
Iron deficiency can lead to a lessened quality of life, as your heart is not receiving all it needs to function correctly.1 Whether you have heart failure, or a loved one does, ensure that you are aware of the signs and symptoms and have your iron levels checked.
